Tug Malta Ltd is the only licensed company that can carry out towage operations within and between the Harbours of the Maltese Islands.
The Company commenced its operations in 1980 with a fleet of four tug boats. These Tugs over the years have been replaced with more powerful tugs and today the company has a fleet of six tugs. Tug assistance to vessels entering, leaving or shifting in the ports of Malta, including Grand Harbour, Marsamxett Harbour or Marsaxlokk Harbour is provided in accordance with the Towage (Tariff of Rates) Regulations 2010 - LN 373 of 2010. All other tug services in any other area, including conveyance of personnel and stores, tows outside harbours and/or from one harbour to another will be provided by the Company at rates to be arranged. All work undertaken by the Company is subject to the Standard Conditions of Towage and Other Services. Other terms and conditions may be sighted on the Operations page.
